Where Dragons Dare Not Go, Another Did

Just a quick update!

I hear from the Production Company, Shinawil, that www.greenflame.ie, which featured in the first show of series 2 has, since the broadcast, apparently secured a €200,000 investment. I am delighted.

Green Flame is a type of co-op of 35 farmers in Wexford who are growing a new high energy, heat generating, low ash crop that will be manufactured into a new type of fire log. So even though the Dragons passed on this one, it is just wonderful that at a time when it is very difficult to get money - and banks seemed closed for business, despite their claims that they are not -  someone watching a TV show said to themselves, “Hey I think that’s great, I’ll give those guys a ring.”
Next blog Thursday 11:15pm right after the show ends.

Gavin, I am surprised by the presentation that these guys gave, as it was misrepresentation on several cases. These types of logs have been available for quite some time. A local farmer actually produces them.
It might be a good investment opportunity but it certainly is nothing new…

  2. Hi Evert -

I take your point about the novelty of what these guys are doing. I’ve wondered myself if claims get fact checked. I’m not so sure novelty is such a big deal however. Pepsi does just fine selling sugary water, even if someone else does it also.

More to the point – not all business opportunities have to change the world. The idea is that if they change one person’s world (the owner) that is good enough.

    Hi Gavin,
I too was disappointed with my 30seconds of confusion on Dragons Den.The editing of the footage was poor:
Feedback from viewers, to me was that they could not grasp, what was it about?. In addition I was only allowed to show one part of my on site Door hanging System on the Den Please play video on http://www.PunchlistTools.com to see the Fast Hang System working.
    Thank you for your comments

James, as you can gather I felt your product deserved more time on the Den but perhaps the producers feel viewers are just not interested in any products to do with construction. I have noticed everyone of them over the two series have been edited to the minimum. James I genuinely hope you stick with it because it is a great asset to anyone hanging a door.
